Sapphire Circle sorcery can be mastered by any Celestial Exalted. No set of circumstances will ever lead to the price of a sorcerous initiation to be reclaimed. (Either Daatha falls out of love with his wife, or she him - or, perhaps, she dies.) The Intimacy is lost by 'accidental' means (and the dot loss must be explainable as a natural consequence of it) but the character must ultimately be willing to give it up. To become an Emerald sorcerer, one must sacrifice a dot of an Attribute or Virtue - it may never be raised again - and an Intimacy - either the character loses the Intimacy itself or the object of the Intimacy, whatever the player thinks is most dramatic. It may be dispelled or warded with sorcery of the Sapphire Circle. With it, one might inquire for answers in dreams, cause the accidental death of an unenlightened mortal (provided a sympathetic focus), create mundane materials or Jade, inflict or cure Wyld mutations, or replicate most Astrology.

These require that sorcery is more potent and, in certain respects, narrowed in scope - no combat casting! The primary difference is that the sacrifices are quantified and that all spells follow the timing rules of diabolism - except that the highest spell one can cast is cast like a 3rd Circle Summoning and they work themselves outward, so that, for instance, a Sapphire sorcerer may cast a Sapphire spell over the course of Calibration and an Emerald spell under each new moon. This system retains the Three Circles, spells that are bought like Charms, the implied origins, the sacrifice, and everything that comes with the Brigid Cycle. I hope you guys can give me some cool ideas and trenchant critiques! I'm writing this because I'm insanely jealous of Aaron's Terrestrial rewrite since I'm not a genius like he is and because sorcery doesn't start off from such a low baseline, my expectations for this are somewhat humble - I just want to make sorcery a bit less D&D and more flavorful in my own eyes.
